7. How does the prophet Isaiah provide a startling revelation of Jesus as divine? Isaiah 7:14.
NOTE: ‘From the days of eternity the Lord Jesus Christ was one with the Father; He was the image of God, the outshining of His glory. To manifest this glory, to reveal the light of God’s love, He came to our sin-darkened earth. Therefore it was prophesied of Him, “They shall call His name Immanuel, ... God with us.” Matthew 1:23; cf. Isaiah 7:14.’ From Heaven with Love, page 11.
8. If we should be unable to take in the full significance of the verse in Isaiah, how does Matthew give us the full picture? Matthew 1:23.
COMPILER’S NOTE: ‘Immanuel’ and ‘Emmanuel’. This is the same name. The first is in Hebrew and the second in Greek. They both mean, ‘God with us’.
NOTE: ‘The Jews had never before heard such words from human lips, and a convicting influence attended them; for it seemed that divinity flashed through humanity as Jesus said, “I and My Father are One.” The words of Christ were full of deep meaning as He put forth the claim that He and the Father were of one substance, possessing the same attributes.’ Signs of the Times, November 27, 1893.
